LAB MANAGER DIVERSITY DIGITAL SUMMIT
Building Better Labs: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Lab managers benefit from learning from many different people. Lab managers have the responsibility to help their diverse staff with everything from technical expertise to career development. Most lab managers are very comfortable helping staff in the ways they were helped, but this approach may not work for everyone. Hearing the stories of successful journeys from scientists and lab managers from across the diversity spectrum will help lab managers broaden their skills in managing a diverse workplace.
Lab Manager will enable a panel of successful diverse scientists and lab managers to share their journeys and experiences on February 16-17, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EST, as part of its Digital Diversity Summit. Expert speakers will offer guidance on topics to help the lab manager community better understand the challenges, obstacles, and successes of diverse lab scientists. Takeaways from these sessions will help existing lab managers provide guidance and career development for diverse scientists, as well as advice and examples to young diverse scientists looking for paths to success in the lab. Audience members will be invited to participate in a Q&A with speakers following each session, as they gather information to take back to their own labs to improve their own experiences.
