WOMEN LEADERS IN SCIENCE DIGITAL SUMMIT
Helping Women Reach their Leadership Potential
The path to leadership is not the same for all lab managers. Personal identity and experience play a key role in how managers approach their jobs, and how they obtain them in the first place, so it is important that lab managers know that the same leadership approach may not work for every member of their team. Women are one particular group that is underrepresented in both technical roles in industry as well as leadership and management roles in the lab, so it is important to develop strategies that allow qualified individuals to “climb the ladder.”
Lab Manager will enable successful women leaders from different scientific roles to share their stories as part of our Women Leaders in Science Digital Summit on August 16-17. Speakers will share their experiences, outline the challenges they faced along the way, and offer advice to those who wish to advance their own careers or assist others who wish to hold a leadership position. These shared stories will enable existing lab managers to better understand these journeys and provide improved career development guidance to the women on staff. In addition, these stories will provide advice to young women through examples of how they can address the challenges and obstacles they face to reach the career success they envision. Audience members will be invited to participate in a Q&A with speakers following each session.
